What is POV bar?

POV: Point Of View

The POV bar allows you to view and change the current dimension settings during a Hyperion Enterprise work session.

Changing the Current POV:

From the Hyperion Enterprise desktop, you can select any one of the buttons on the POV bar to change the current dimension settings.

You may also change the current entity by selecting EDIT / Point of View from the Menu bar or selecting the Edit Point of view icon from the toolbar as shown below in the screen shot.

Point of view Dialog box:

The point of view dialog box is used to locate and select new dimension settings. This dialog box has several panels, which sort the valid settings by each data element as shown below in the screen shot.

Filters:
Both the Entity and Account panels of the point of view dialog box have filters. These filters allow users to display only those dimensions that meet the selected criteria.

For Example, a typical Hyperion Enterprise application might have thousands of accounts. Since most end users would probably not need to view the entire chart of accounts during a typical work session, the users may apply filters to limit the account list displayed.

Entity Filters:
The Entity panel includes three check boxes that may be used to filter the entity list. You can filter entities by Parent Entities, Base Entities or Subentities by selecting the appropriate check box as shown in the below screen shot.

Account Filters:

The Account panel includes three check boxes to filter the account list. You can filter accounts by Input accounts, Calculated accounts or Dynamic View accounts by selecting the appropriate check box as shown in the below screen shot.

Hyperion Enterprise: Features & Capabilities

Hyperion enterprise is an advanced management reporting and consolidation system. It provides numerous features that can be used to collect, consolidate, analyze and report on business information. You can collect data for your organization and its individual entities from a variety of sources. You can then perform consolidations, eliminations, and other calculations. On the output side, Hyperion enterprise provides the means to generate customized reports that represent your data in clear and understandable formats.

Data Collection:

Data is entered into Hyperion Enterprise either manually through “DATA ENTRY”, “JOURNALS”, or the “DATABASE”, or loaded automatically from external sources like GL or Remote sites.

DATA ENTRY: It contains tables of accounts and periods for a specific reporting entity and category of data. You can use schedules to view and enter data.A schedule can contain one or more account lists, which includes only those accounts that are to be used for specific data entry tasks.

DATALOAD: Data from external sources such as spreadsheets, general ledgers and databases can be loaded directly into Hyperion Enterprise in the form of ASCII files. Conversion tables can be used to translate external entities and accounts to those used by Hyperion Enterprise system.

JOURNALS: These are audit entries that can be made to adjust the data in accounts for reporting entities in your organization that have journal adjustments. When journals are posted, the system stores the debit and credit entries.

Data Consolidation:
Consolidation is the process wherein data values are rolled up from accounts in dependent entities to those in parent entities. As dara consolidates, a ser of user-defined logic rules performs calculations on the data. Hyperion Enterprise allows you to consolidate across a range of periods and entities, or only on specific periods or entities that have been “impacted” by changes in data.

Data Reporting and Analysis:
Hyperion Enterprise allows you to organize and report data in a variety of formats, such as income statements, balance sheets or cash flow reports. Once defined, reports can be applied to any operating unit in your organization.

Reports:
Reports can be printed, displayed on the screen or sent to a file. Reports can then be defined, which prompt users for information such as company entity and time period.

Books:
Groups of related reports might be organized into Books that enable the user to run a block of reports in a single procedure.
